 PROJECT ASTROTURF
Brian and Erika are in the process of teaching me (a 15 year old dog) to do my "business" on astroturf carpet (the indignity of it all!). This is apparently what boat dogs do, though I have yet to meet a fellow canine who can support this claim. So far their strategy is to cut a large piece of astroturf (3x5) and place it where I normally do my business. Every morning they take me to my spot, roll out the carpet, and in a overly cheerful voice tell me to “go“(I am not amused).

DOG LOG:
Day 1 of project astroturf- stood on carpet,  gave Brian a "are you serious?" look, thought to myself -this must be Blondie girl's idea.
Day 2-  stood on carpet, looked around at them starring down at me expectantly, and went pee a foot off the carpet (he he, you should of saw the crestfallen look on their faces, just priceless!).
Day 3- went pee next to carpet with one foot on carpet (gotta give them a little hope).
Day 4- went pee on carpet. You'd of thought I laid a golden egg by their reaction, my humans are easy to please.

Day 5- not feeling the love for the carpet, went pee next to it.

UPDATE: Kaela uses the astroturf just fine, she has yet to do uh er "number 2" but I think she is fairly comfortable with it all. The big challenge now will be finding a cleaner way to use the matt aboard. I think the best plan is to place the matt right next to a scupper but that will not be a safe place when under sail, so may have to hove to when she needs to "go".

Will post more when we use the matt in real sailing conditions.
